PPA + BTU: The Unity Campaign

We have exciting news for you! The merger passed!

Members of the Broward Teachers Union or Broward ParaProfessionals Association bargaining units voted over-whelmingly to merge. BTU members voted by about 80 percent and PPA members voted by about 90 percent for the two organizations to join together.

Union leaders and your fellow education professionals believe this change will greatly benefit each of the organizations. The following are just a few of the ways:

l Louder voice in the workplace l More cost effective

We encourage you to support our two unions’ members joining together into a stronger and more unified organization as the process continues. By combining forces, the BTU will become a more powerful union poised to better represent all members in the workplace and to organize employees to fight for issues that will make

our public schools even better. The next step in the merger process will be for the members of the school board to approve the employees' will and vote to merge.

As more information becomes available, it will be provided to all members and the public-at-large.
