Gov. Rick Scott and his appointed managing trustees of the Florida Retirement System pension plan that covers all state, local, school district and public university employees, held an Investment Advisory Council meeting June 11 and failed once again to adequately address the risks involved in investing teacher retirement fund contributions in three firearms manufacturing companies, including the manufacturer of the AR-15 rifle used by the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooter.

Stoneman Douglas Teachers, Students and Parents, along with Broward legislators joined President Fusco at a press conference to call for the Governor in his capacity as a fiduciary, take decisive steps to address the risks posed to our retirement security and if gun manufacturers and retailers do not adopt safety reforms that will mitigate risk, take action to divest our pension funds from investments in gun manufacturers and retailers.

President Fusco sent an email asking Gov Scott to take these steps. Add your voice by clicking "e-Mail the Governor" (above)
