Union educators who want to remain active and involved in the union and profession once they retire are eligible to join the Broward Teachers Retirees Chapter.
The BTU Retirees Chapter works to keep all members informed on all senior issues. Retiree members have a representative on the BTU's Executive Board.
Note: There is another group [Broward County Retired Educators - BCREA] that is not connected with the Broward Teachers Union Retirees. BCREA is a subsidiary of AARP and therefore promotes AARP insurance interests.

The annual workshop for pre-retirement teachers is presented in late fall. How to figure pension amounts, social security options,
Medicare and Medigap insurance, DROP, sick leave rollover and more are discussed. All participants receive a retirement handbook.
