Dear Steward:
You are invited to attend our annual
BTU Steward
Leadership Training which will be held on
Monday, August 4
and Tuesday, August 5 at the
Seminole Hard Rock
Hotel & Casino located on the west side
of 441 between Griffin and Stirling roads. I hope
all of you will take advantage of this opportunity
for both training and fun before the start of the
new school year.
We
will continue our
Steward Leadership
Training Program this year, which
consists of a series of three training sessions and
several minimal requirements. Completion of this
program at any of the four levels will entitle you
to a certificate, a maximum one quarter (1/4) dues
rebate and 60 in-service points, if applicable. The
training will assist you to perform your duties as a
steward and provide you with the knowledge necessary
to represent your colleagues.
The
beginning of the
year training session is required
for completion of
the program.
We
hope you will plan to spend the night with us at
this beautiful hotel. If you room with another
steward, the hotel will direct bill the Broward
Teachers Union for room and tax charges. All
stewards must discuss and agree in advance that they
will be sharing a room. You
must
present a credit
card upon check-in for incidentals.
Those not willing to do so, will not be given a
room.
If you choose to room alone or wish to bring a
significant other,
you will be
responsible for
one-half (1/2) the double occupancy rate at check
out and the resort will direct-bill the
Broward Teachers Union the other half. Double
occupancy rate is $135.00 per night plus 11% room
tax. If your significant other wishes to attend the
Political Reception on Monday night, the cost is
$25.00 payable by check or cash at registration.
The RSVP process
will be completed ONLY via computer online
reservations so please read the last portion of this
invitation CAREFULLY.
The hotel is not willing to extend these rates for
the usual three days before and after the event. I
have, however, managed to block a few rooms on
Sunday night and Tuesday night at the same rate
listed above. I
will take these reservations on a
first come,
first serve
basis from the
online reservations.
You will be
responsible for the full cost of each additional
night upon check out.

You may check in any time on Monday and spend the
day at the pool or Casino even though your room will
not be ready until later in the day.
If a new steward has been elected at your site,
please give them this information and encourage them
to attend this event so they won’t miss out on the
first training opportunity.
